At the Madrid Summit, NATO adopted its new strategic concept. This key document reaffirms NATO's values, purpose and tasks. It provides a collective assessment of the security challenges facing the Alliance and outlines the political and military tasks that NATO will take to address. The strategic concept is the result of internal consultation between Allies and external engagement with partners, other international organizations, expert communities, youth organizations, civil society and the private sector.
NATO Public Forum
In addition to the Madrid Summit, a Public Forum brings together stakeholders beyond the traditional security and defense community in a discussion on the future of the Alliance. Hosted by four major civil society organizations - the Elcano Royal Institute, the German Marshall Fund, the Munich Security Conference and the Atlantic Council - the Public Forum includes experts and decision makers from around the world to add additional perspectives to the Summit.
The NATO Forum emphasized the importance of a free and dynamic civil society. From Romania, two European-recognized civic personalities were invited to participate in this NATO Forum, Morel Bolea - president of the EuroDEMOS Association and Diana Alexandroae - president of the Kasta Morrely Association.
The President of EuroDEMOS - Dr. Morel Bolea will continue to contribute to the promotion of values, principles and implementation of NATO strategy by organizing the Conference " Romania in NATO - strategic perspectives for community security" in autumn 2022, co-sponsored by NATO Public Diplomacy Division. The conference "Romania in NATO - strategic perspectives for community security" will create a common space for specialized discussions on Romania's membership in NATO, as well as current topics of interest in terms of security awareness and community resilience. The Conference will involve decision-makers at the national level from strategic ministries, representatives of civil society, representatives of the democratic media, representatives of the formal education system.
